A Dialogue Between Pateh and Zardozi

The fusion of Southern Thai Pateh (batik) textile identity with the intricacy of Zardozi (gold) embroidery, an art form rooted in Persian tradition, is reinterpreted into contemporary womenswear. This work conveys the narrative of Malay–Islamic culture through refined patterns, color, and modernized textures, creating an image that is elegant, subtle, and timeless. It bridges traditional craftsmanship with a global contemporary context.

This idea began at my home, in Yala, where the visual language of Pateh textiles first left its mark. That early connection grew into a desire to preserve and share the wisdom of Malay heritage, translating it into a form that speaks to both a new generation and a global audience.
